Notice the pattern: the ceiling tracks how the camera is meant to be used. A mains-powered camera designed for continuous recording supports large cards; a solar battery camera designed for events does not, because it would never fill one. Buying a 512GB card for a battery camera is money spent on capacity the camera will not address.
Why an Ordinary Card Fails in a Camera
A phone or a camera card is written to occasionally and read from often. The Trap: a Card Can Switch Off Your Other Recording

TP-Link states that Tapo Care cloud storage cannot be used at the same time as NVR or microSD card recording, because Tapo cameras have a limited number of streams — and that if all three are active, NVR recording is disabled. To resume NVR recording, you remove the microSD card.

Format it in the camera, not in a computer. Cameras expect a specific file system and layout, and a card formatted elsewhere frequently mounts but records unreliably. Every camera with a card slot has a format option in its app; use that one.
Check the card is actually recording, once. Trigger an event deliberately, then open playback and confirm the clip exists on the card rather than in the cloud. It takes two minutes and it is the only way to know the card is doing anything — a camera with a failed card usually keeps working perfectly in every other respect, which is exactly why people discover the problem on the day they needed the footage.
