This page explains how SafeBode decides what to publish, how we research our recommendations, and what standards every article must meet. SafeBode is published by RadiantCore LLC and led by founder and lead editor Surabhi Agrawal, who is responsible for everything that appears on this site.
Independence
Our recommendations are decided entirely by the research process below — never by commissions, advertisers, or manufacturers. No brand can pay for placement, a higher ranking, or a positive review, and if the best product in a category has no affiliate program at all, that’s still the one we’ll tell you about. Our research process
Every buying guide, comparison, and review on SafeBode goes through the same process before publication:
- Market scan. We identify the products that genuinely compete in a category — not just the ones with the biggest ad budgets.
- Specification analysis. We compare manufacturers’ published specifications side by side — resolution, detection range, battery life, connectivity, subscription requirements — and flag where marketing language doesn’t match the fine print.
- Owner-experience research. We analyze large volumes of verified-owner reviews to surface the problems that only show up after months of real use: false alarms, app failures, batteries that don’t last, subscriptions that creep up in price.
- Total cost of ownership. A $60 camera with a mandatory $10/month plan isn’t a $60 camera. We price out what a product actually costs over 1–3 years, including required subscriptions and accessories.
- Fit, not just rank. A renter in an apartment, a family in a suburban house, and a rural homeowner with patchy Wi-Fi need different things. Every guide says who a product is right for — and who should skip it.
- Editorial review. Our lead editor reviews every article for accuracy and fairness before it goes live.
Hands-on testing
SafeBode has not yet run its own hands-on product testing program, and we’re upfront about that on every guide where it applies rather than implying testing that hasn’t happened. Until that program is built out, every recommendation is grounded in verified manufacturer specifications and cross-checked against independent, established coverage — outlets like Consumer Reports and other established review publications — and updated whenever a brand changes a feature, a price, or a subscription term. Where a claim can’t be verified against a primary source, we say so directly in the article instead of presenting it with false confidence.
As SafeBode’s testing program develops, guides will be updated with genuine hands-on data — including whether a unit was purchased by us or provided by a manufacturer for review — and that transition will be noted transparently on each affected page, not published as a quiet edit.
Use of AI tools
We use AI tools to assist with research aggregation and drafting. Every published article is directed, fact-checked, and edited by a human, and our editor takes full responsibility for its accuracy — AI assistance speeds up the process, it doesn’t replace editorial judgment.
Updates and corrections
The home-security market changes quickly, and a guide is only useful if it’s current. We re-check a guide whenever something that would change our recommendation happens — a new hardware generation, a price change, a shift in what a subscription tier includes — rather than on a fixed schedule, and we date every update at the top of the article.
If we get something wrong, we correct it and note what changed and when, rather than editing quietly.
