SafeBode exists because shopping for home security has become harder than it should be. Search for “best security camera” and you’ll find hundreds of near-identical lists, recycled press releases, and rankings that quietly follow whoever pays the highest commission. Meanwhile, the decision actually matters — this is the equipment you’re trusting to protect your family and your home.
We started SafeBode to be the site we wished existed: clear, honest comparisons of security systems, cameras, smart locks, video doorbells, and alarms, written for real households rather than for search engines.
Who we are
SafeBode is published by RadiantCore LLC and led by Surabhi Agrawal, our founder and lead editor. Surabhi oversees every guide we publish — from the research framework behind our recommendations to the final word on whether a product earns a place on this site at all.
We’re a small, independent team, and we think that’s a strength. Nothing gets published here that we wouldn’t be comfortable recommending to our own families.
How we evaluate products
We believe in showing our work. Every recommendation on SafeBode comes from a structured research process:
- Specification analysis. We compare manufacturers’ published specs side by side — resolution, detection range, battery life, connectivity, subscription requirements — and flag where marketing language doesn’t match the fine print.
- Owner experience research. We analyze large volumes of verified-owner reviews to surface the problems that only show up after months of real use: false alarms, app failures, batteries that don’t last, subscriptions that creep up in price.
- Total cost of ownership. A $60 camera with a mandatory $10/month plan isn’t a $60 camera. We price out what products actually cost over time.
- Fit over hype. A renter in an apartment, a family in a suburban house, and a rural homeowner with patchy Wi-Fi need different things. Our guides say who each product is right for — and who should skip it.
Where we haven’t personally used a product, we say so. We update our guides as products, prices, and subscription terms change.
How we make money
SafeBode is reader-supported. When you buy through links on our site, we may earn an affiliate commission — at no extra cost to you. That’s the full extent of it: no manufacturer pays for placement, no ranking is for sale, and we never accept payment for a positive review. Commissions never decide our recommendations; if a product with no affiliate program is the best choice, that’s the one we’ll tell you about.
